Recently, Tianjin Medical University and the Hong Kong polytechnic university (polyu) jointly established the joint laboratory of eye optometry and visual science was inaugurated in our school.President Yanhua and dean of the School of Optometry of the Hong Kong polytechnic university (polyu) Du Sihe signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of the two universities and inaugurated the joint laboratory.Professor Hu Zhicheng, professor emeritus of ophthalmology and optometry of the Hong Kong polytechnic university (polyu), accompanied by his teaching and research team, attended the opening ceremony. Zhang Lijun, director of international exchange and cooperation department, Wei Ruihua, deputy director of the party committee of eye optometry college and eye hospital, and Li Xiaoxia, director of academic affairs department attended the event.

 President yan hua said in his speech that the establishment of the joint laboratory of eye optometry and visual science of the two universities is a concrete manifestation of the spirit of the national education conference and an urgent need to improve the level of eye optometry research in our school.He stressed that the Hong Kong polytechnic university ophthalmology optometry college is globally recognised academic authority in this field, in the establishment of medical institute of technology, the establishment of the joint laboratory will be in advancing eye vision of high level scientific research cooperation at the same time, for the eye optometry in our school teachers and students to provide comprehensive, professional, multidisciplinary joint eye optical and visual scientific research platform, so as to realize the two schools can mutual assistance, and collaborative development.

In October 2018, polyu and our university officially signed an inter-university cooperation agreement. Under the framework of the cooperation agreement, the two sides have had in-depth exchanges in ophthalmology optometry teaching, scientific research and talent training, and made progress in the prevention and control of juvenile myopia, myopia foundation and clinical research.The establishment of the joint laboratory between the two universities is another milestone for the further docking of national strategies and the expansion of cooperation between the two universities.
